Quick answer
In 2025, 62 Bukmuk families read more than 100 books each. We asked them what changed. Of the 31 who replied, every parent said their child loves reading more, and 84% said screen time went down without any ban. Access to the right books, freedom to choose and plenty of variety made the difference.
Celebrating our 100+ book champions
Reading 100 books in a year is not a small thing. It means curiosity kept alive for twelve months, a habit practised almost every day, and many evenings when a story won over a screen. To every child who got there: this belongs to you. You did not just finish books. You became a reader.
What parents noticed
31 of the 62 families answered our survey. Here is what they saw in their children:
- 100% said their child loves reading more
- 87% saw more imagination and creativity
- 77% noticed a bigger vocabulary and better language
- 71% saw more general knowledge
- 58% reported better focus
- 55% saw more empathy
- 42% noticed better results at school
Reading no longer feels like a task but something they look forward to. It has been beautiful to see reading become a calm, happy habit rather than a struggle.

Screens, replaced
Nobody banned screens. Books simply became more interesting.
- 52% of children cut screen time a lot, by 100 hours or more over the year
- 32% cut it a little
- 10% saw no big change
That is 84% of families with less screen time. Several parents told us reading became the first thing their child reached for in free time.
How much they read each day
- 48% read for more than an hour a day
- 10% read for 45 to 60 minutes
- 26% read for 30 to 45 minutes
- 13% read for 15 to 30 minutes
Even 20 to 30 minutes a day adds up to a remarkable amount of reading over a year.
What helped most
Parents named three things:
- Books that suit the child's age
- Freedom to choose
- Lots of variety
Structure plus freedom builds the habit. Parents rated the books and variety 4.77 out of 5.
What changed beyond school
- More curiosity
- Better communication
- Reading without reminders
- More creativity
- Excitement about new books
What this tells us
- Children read when the books around them are right for them.
- Reading brings screen time down on its own.
- Small daily reading adds up to something big.
The goal was never just 100 books. It was raising readers for life, and in 2025 that shift began.
