Mr. Davies and the Baby

A mother and baby greatly miss Mr. Ages 3^-6. Mr. Davies, a little dog, is content with eating, digging, and sleeping in his yard until he meets the baby next door. Squeezing under the gate, he accompanies his favorite neighbor and parents on their daily stroll. Unfortunately, the excitable Mr. Davies disgraces himself by chasing ducks, a cat, and a bicyclist. It looks as though he'll never be able to join the family again, but the baby's sadness and Mr. Davies' determination convince the mother to find a happier solution to their dilemma. This simple story will appeal to children, particularly in combination with the lively, often comical artwork. Voake illustrates the tale using winsome ink drawings with gentle watercolor washes that help give the book its piquant charm.
